To see in the Hautes-Alpes

The Hautes-Alpes department is mainly located in a mountainous area, some of which rise to an altitude of more than 3,000 m, or even 4,000+ (Barre des Écrins). So much that Gap is the highest prefecture in France. Such a geographical configuration offers extraordinary landscapes as in the Parc national des Écrins. From Briançon to Embrunais, from Dévoluy to Gapençais, the Hautes-Alpes are home to magnificent natural regions to discover on foot, by car, by bicycle or by horse.

From Les Rives du Lac, take a stroll in the nearby villages such as Sisteron, Esparron, Vitrolles, Montmaur, La Beaume or Laragne Montéglin.
Lose yourself in the Vauban citadel of Briançon. Gather in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Arnoux de Gap.
Admire the architecture of Fort Queyras, Notre-Dame de Boscodon Abbey, Randouillet Fort and Saint-Jean de L’Argentière-la-Bessée Chapel.
Go back in time to the departmental museum of the Hautes-Alpes and the Muséoscope of the Lake in Serre-Ponçon.
